SACRAMENTO . The state Senate and Assembly released a cache of documents Friday revealing 20 substantiated complaints of sexual harassment or inappropriate behavior against lawmakers or high-level legislative staffers over the past 12 years.
The nearly 100 pages of documents include cases against six current and former elected officials: Republican gubernatorial candidate Travis Allen, an Assemblyman from Huntington Beach (Orange County); Assemblywoman Autumn Burke, D-Inglewood (Los Angeles County); Sen. Bob Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys; former Assemblyman Raul Bocanegra, D-San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles County); former Sen. Roderick Wright, D-Inglewood; and suspended Sen. Tony Mendoza, D-Artesia (Los Angeles County).
The article goes on to give case-by-case details. But we should forgive them because they try to be champions and models:

A top California official who had an affair with a subordinate more than 10 years ago while he was mayor of San Francisco says a culture of “toxic masculinity” is fueling violence against women in America.
Gavin Newsom, California’s lieutenant governor who is running for governor of the Golden State in elections scheduled for later this year, was asked about the affair in light of the #MeToo movement.
Newsom was recently asked in an interview in front of an audience at the University of San Francisco why voters in California should consider him for governor given his past indiscretions.
.I would say the same thing that I said (then) to the voters in San Francisco: that I acknowledged it. I apologized for it. I learned an enormous amount from it,. Newsom said according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
And I am every day trying to be a champion and a model – not just for women and girls – but to deal with the issue that we need to focus on, which is the crisis with men and boys in this state and in this country..
Maybe women should choose a man who never committed adultery to be a champion & model of healthy masculinity? But I doubt that’s who they’ll actually choose because honest men are bad for drama. And so in the Gynocracy of Commiefornia, the gatekeepers of public morality are its most spectacular failures. “Follow my example,” Newsom might say. “I porked my campaign manager’s wife, destroyed his marriage and got away with it by saying Oops when I was found out… vote for me!”
At least #MeToo promises to make midterm elections interesting.
