White people made a mistake. When we saw other races adopting our principles of individualism, self-determination and free speech, we thought we were uplifting them. That they were embracing an obviously, objectively better way to live than the politics of greed and Us vs Them and licking Massa’s boot heel.

What was actually happening: they embraced our freedom and opportunity because they were weak, therefore willing to accept whatever treatment we gave them. It just happened to be good treatment. We had the power and that meant we were the masters, and they embraced freedom & indoor plumbing only because we ordered them to.

As nonwhites seized (were given) the reins of power over previously white-ordered societies, turns out they can’t loot, marginalize and even kill us whites fast enough. We never actually uplifted them. They just did as we told while biding their time until they got their turn. They didn’t realize or care that we were tying to help. That their squalor and senseless violence upset us so much that at our own expense, we would show and teach a better way to live. It never occurred to them that we were being kind.

And so, when White Man sat back and let them show the virtue, honor and concern for others that we’d spent decades of Manifest Destiny and centuries of example beating into them, they shanked us in the back and hissed “my turn, white boy”. From Zimbabwe and South Africa to Sweden and UK to California and Canada, everywhere whites have lost control of our governments, we’ve been targeted for looting and… disposal.

Whites must control the government at all times, exclusively. This is for our protection, because we are a generally kind and free race in a world that loathes the concepts. We must hold an iron grip on power everywhere we live as the primary condition for our continued existence. At least in Current Year.

And the strange thing is, the other races want this. Whites are nobody’s first choice of rulers (everybody wants to rule themselves) but we’re everybody’s second choice because they know we don’t play identity politics. We don’t have a racial compulsion to exploit others just because we can. The lesser races appreciate that even as they try to exploit that. What a fucked-up, feminine world this is.

My apologies to the Talented Tenth, that small percentage of nonwhites that actually learned what we taught and are therefore trustworthy and productive folks. It’s not about you and you won’t be worse off in my ideal world. Because unlike your ethnic group, mine doesn’t care for ethnic cleansing.

My people aren’t like your people. That’s why we must be the ones to rule.

It is not possible to understand or solve modern troubles without resorting to Christianity. The war we fight is religious; the battles, symbolic and in the mathematical sense, functional.

The Fall: Woman rebelled against God, then Man changed loyalties from God to Woman. Devil->Woman->Man

All human societies throughout history have existed on a continuum between these two poles. Mostly on the Fallen side; endless warlords, cronies and God-Emperors commanding legions of disposable male slaves. But on rare occasions, we’ve seen the flipside: men regarding each other as peers, government serving instead of oppressing.

Servile government happens most often when government is nonexistent, which explains the desire of many Manospherians for a tribal existence: if the chief gets too obnoxious then regime change is only a headshot away. Ignoring that, good governments happened most often when many governments competed against each other. The example here is Europe vs China. Europe’s broken geography made governments sending armies against each other difficult while allowing for migration of outcasts and dissidents. A selection of societies forced governments to have at least a passing concern for the welfare of their people, measurable in technological progress and actual social experimentation. (Not the ‘experiments’ of exterminating fatherhood to foment rebellion against Father God.)

By contrast, China and central Asia had massive tracts of level ground, ideal for military conquest. The result: China is the oldest nation, at least as old as Egypt, and historically among the least innovative. It’s no coincidence both that the Chinese people lacked alternative governments and the traditional Chinese diet includes dogs, grass and almost anything even partially edible. Oppression was that common.

The most “Chinese” society was the Tower of Babel, where humanity unified in rebellion against God. God thwarted the rebellion by confusing human language. With groups of humans unable to cooperate, the humanist project of the Tower fell apart. Ever since, humanity has been in a spiritual “Europe” situation, allowing us to slowly, painfully crawl towards the light of moral truth.

Thanks to modern telecommunications, however, the safeguards God imposed at the Tower of Babel have been undone. The world is increasingly united and not coincidentally, united in rebellion against God. “China” syndrome.

Every secular leader at every level of government of every nation in the West pushes feminism and nonwhite immigration.

Every clergyman in every church of every denomination of every branch of Christianity is eager to please women and blame men.

In the workplace, every innovation and new development is to enable women to be as good as a man… when not centralizing information and power into the hands of Elites.

Society is not a huge collection of human molecules in Brownian motion being acted upon by outside or random forces. We have hardwired behaviors and the moral hardwiring is faulty. Society is a group’s position on the continuum between Heaven and Hell, a position determined by how well that society’s infrastructure acknowledges and corrects that faultiness.

There is no solution to humanity’s marital problems and their consequences outside of Christianity. There appear to be secular solutions in smaller societies because individual leaders may be Christian or at least, advanced enough towards the Christian end of the continuum to force people to act against their id. The larger the collection of leaders, indeed, the larger of any collection of humanity, the more humanity will regress to its id.

When society is just you on a deserted island, what your society believes about God doesn’t have deep implications. When society is the entire world united through technology and common language, it will only be ruled by either Christ or Satan. Mediocre gods of varying moral utility will give way to either Right or Wrong as surely as building a bridge allows less tolerance for error the farther it must span.

Because Original Sin is the central fault of the human soul, Wrong looks like a handful of devils lording over vast harems of women and disposing of male life with a gleeful lust for death and destruction… and the male slaves themselves reject that God ever meant them to be free.

This is our fate because humanity has united into the greatest single society ever and we have no alternative.

Famous journalist Bernard Goldberg wrote a book, “Bias”, about how he accidentally destroyed his career in a single act of admitting that the mainstream media had a left-leaning political bias. He wrote a letter to the editor of, I recall, the WSJ, thinking that it was a worthy discussion to have. Goldberg himself was not opposed to the bias–Jewish CBS news anchor, go figure–but he was honest enough to wonder if the truth might be getting skewed too much.

In the book, he recounts bringing the letter up in conversation pre-publication with his friend Dan Rather. Per Goldberg, Rather’s immediate reaction was, quote, “THAT’S LIKE RAPING MY WIFE AND KIDNAPPING MY KIDS!”, end quote. Friendship dead.

Publicly admitting that CBS had a soft spot for liberals was like raping his wife and kidnapping his kids. Goldberg’s other superiors were similarly intolerant and he was quickly fired.

Now, both Goldberg and Rather were hard Leftists. When presented with the truth “Big Media is biased liberal”, however, Goldberg stopped to think about it and Rather went ballistic.

That’s a world of difference.

We can make a litmus test out of this. Many, oh so many people are wrong today about very important matters. But are they ignorant or evil? Is there any chance you can reach them? You need a quick sorting rule, a test to see if a particular guy is worth your effort.

Tell them that their beliefs are wrong. Just a simple statement. “Tradcon, it’s the women who are to blame for men’s bad behavior. Mr. Liberal, socialist healthcare is bankrupt everywhere it’s been tried.” If they stop and think about what you say then they’re reachable. If they refuse outright, and especially if they go ad hominem, put them on your personal Defarge list and save yourself the effort of giving them a clue.

That’s the Goldberg test.

The book “Bias” is worth reading. The content is nothing new for the Red-Pilled but it’s a recounting of the “early days” of social justice activism, when the Left’s monopoly on American awareness of the outside world began to crack. Contrary to frequently voiced opinions in the Manosphere, antidepressants and Ritalin-style drugs do not cause psychotic and/or violent behavior. This came up most recently in the latest Florida school shooting but has been a long-running source of hysteria.

Antidepressants are emotional crutches. The reason so many school shooters and other social failures are on them at the time they snap is because their lives were already so messed up that they needed the chemical crutch, usually because of fatherlessness. The reason psychiatrists prescribe antidepressants so easily is because they can’t prescribe a father. It’s that simple. Even the substitute fathers like Boy Scouts and military service are gone, strangled by feminism. What then should a shrink do when he’s asked to treat a boy starting adolescence with the entire world sabotaging him left and right? There isn’t much he is able to do beyond offering drugs that will make life somewhat easier to face.

Ritalin is undeniably abused by tyrannical parents and school officials. However, they prescribe it to pacify the boys, not inflame them towards murder. Why would oppressive authorities try to control a difficult boy by giving him drugs that would make him more uncontrollable? Just because it’s a variant of amphetamine doesn’t make it crystal meth.

If drugs were causing this violence then the perpetrators would be remorseful afterwards, like a drunkard who wakes up in a jail cell to discover he killed a pedestrian while driving home from the bar last night.

Blaming the drugs is not only misplaced, it distracts from the central causes of rebellious youth. Namely, fatherlessness, a disgustingly corrupt culture, his-fault frivorce destroying fathers, hatred of men, a economy dying under the weight of parasites and women choosing to raise kids without a father. Put the blame where it belongs, upon women and the men who white-knight for them.

JT asks about the origin of “Priesthood of the Believer”. That’s a good question because at first glance, it’s a doctrine that would make for a very confused Church.

I personally agree with Syndrome but hold that thought. Officially, the reason for the principle is 1 Peter 2:4-9:

And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God, you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For this is contained in Scripture:

.Behold, I lay in Zion a choice stone, a precious corner stone,
And he who believes in Him will not be disappointed..

This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for those who disbelieve,

.The stone which the builders rejected,
This became the very corner stone,.

and, .A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Building on that, priests are defined by several traits:

1. Direct access to God. Ephesians 3:12, This was in accordance with the eternal purpose which [God] carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him. Also, the tearing of the curtain in the Temple at the moment of Christ’s death.

2. Offer sacrifices. Romans 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

3. Mediate between God and men. Most of everything the Apostles said and did and told us to do.

Lastly, before the time of Christ the Holy Spirit was only given to selected members of society, chiefly Judges, Levites and prophets. But in NT times, the Holy Spirit is given to all believers. Christ declared this in John 14, it was realized at Pentecost and it was prophecied in Joel 2:28-29:

It will come about after this
That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind;
And your sons and daughters will prophesy,
Your old men will dream dreams,
Your young men will see visions.
Even on the male and female servants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

So, all believers now have the privileges and duties of priests, therefore we have “priesthood of the believer”.

Now that the official explanation is out of the way, I think it’s incorrect. What we actually have today is Priesthood of Christ. While He has not taken His throne, Christ is active today as humanity’s high priest. The book of Hebrews has much to say about this, particularly Heb. 3:1-6:

Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession … Now Moses was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later; but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house.whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.

And Heb. 4:14-16:

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Christ is our active High Priest, therefore we no longer need a human intermediary… not even each other. The official Prot position isn’t wrong so much as it ignores the fact that Christ is still active in the world, even if only by proxy of His Spirit. We become like priests only because God conforms us to be like Christ, the Priest. No believer is a substitute for Him. This view also avoids the appearance of anarchy/disunity that I suspect moves many Catholics against Protestantism. We aren’t all priests, we don’t each decide for ourselves what God wants. Christ told us what God wants and He’s still active in our affairs. (John 14)

On a closing note, there’s still good reasons to have official clergy. Affairs of the Church won’t handle themselves, as the Apostles found out and elevated Stephen to handle. False doctrines must be confronted, missionaries supported, disaster relief moved about. And it’s nice to have a designated, Godly man available for life’s major (and frequently sudden) events.

But none of that requires a specially trained professional who gets a privileged hotline to the Big Man. To the contrary, “Elijah was a man just like us.” James 5:17.

For Protestants, the definition is straightforward:

1. Does not allow laymen to wield authority.

2. Regards any portion of the NT as obsolete or subject to interpretation.

3. Does not call out evil leaders in society.

The first is rejection of “priesthood of the believer”, the second is rejection of “sola Scriptura” and the third is rejection of Christ’s example. So, effectively all Evangelical churches are now Churchian, if not yet Feminist like the Mainstreams.

For pity’s sake, half of the vaunted Great Commission is making disciples. In other words, training your replacements. The other half, preaching the Gospel to the world, has been completed in our lifetime via the Internet. How do our pastors intend to make disciples when they don’t give laymen any opportunity or encouragement? Answer, by holding onto power until their Golden Parachute Pension kicks in and abandoning the people they taught weekly for years to get a replacement from Central Casting because none of them were taught well enough to take his place. To Hell with such useless sods.

By contrast, this humble blog qualifies as a church. An ordinary dude upholding God’s Word and calling out scumbags. Any more Christian than this and there’d be fireballs from Heaven. Or singing.

I’m not sure what Catholic Churchianity looks like but I’ll guess it involves a rejection of Church Tradition, like Vatican II. Some of us are rooted in Scripture and others in Tradition but the Churchians have no root at all.

Senator Diane Feinstein, up for her sixth term in this year’s midterm elections, has lost Democrat party endorsement on suspicion that she has not been adequately supportive of sanctuary city policies in the past.

I was raised, as many Western men are, to believe that violence should be the last resort… but when you’re forced to violence, you go all-in and fight until there’s no more fighting to be done. This has proven to be very problematic in Current Year because many lesser cultures have trouble understanding the difference between kindness and weakness. They see a white man falling back from a casual threat and think he’s easy prey, when in fact he’s simply been taught no tactics between “call the police” and “two shots to the chest, one to the face”. A lot of crime from vandalism to sedition doesn’t require the latter, leaving white boy an easy victim.

Women in particular have trouble appreciating a policy of seeking cooperation over pecking order. This combined with womens’ liberation is a very toxic situation, as the men who are quicker to employ violence are also quicker to get the princess out of her panties.

Even worse, the Western man’s aversion to violence (founded upon the fact we’re so scary good at it) has led us to create laws that prevent the “finish everything” half of the equation under all but the most dire of circumstances. One increasingly cannot shotgun a burglar without first checking if he’s armed, or kneecap one’s Dindu neighbor with a tire iron for defacing his property.

At least, not legally. Which only begs for civil disobedience and lying in self-defense. This is the greatest failure of Start Nothing, Finish Everything: the finish is often visible to law enforcement but the start is not. Oops.

Therefore, you must train yourself for variable levels of self-defense. Some suggestions:

1. The bodycam route. Documenting everything is a slow but fantastically effective way to handle chronic nuisances and low-level threats. Never let it be “his word against your word”. But you do need to procure appropriate cameras for the job.

2. Project menace. Visible muscles, strong eye contact. Never admit you’re wrong or say you’re sorry in an argument with a potential threat. Don’t stare at the ground when you walk or keep hands in pockets. This is an excellent choice for men who are already tall or otherwise visually dominant. Avoid gang-style clothing, however. You don’t want to be mistaken for an actual gang-banger. You only want that perp to decide he’ll wait for the next potential victim.

3. Pepper spray. Now, I have actually used spray in combat. It’s a very poor choice for its primary advertised purpose of women scaring off “rapists” and a poor choice for any street combat because it takes too long to first take it out (you probably aren’t carrying it holstered on your belt) and then aim it (a nozzle’s direction isn’t as obvious as a stick’s or handgun’s). God help you if you “piss into the wind” or the nozzle is clogged with lint or dirt.

However, the one way pepper spray shines is when dealing with multiple chimps enjoying a chest-thumping at your expense. Dindus tend towards pack behavior and are too self-conscious (or stupid) to don personal protective equipment before humiliating you. Three Dindus complaining to cops that you sprayed them, well, who’s the likely aggressor? The one or the three? So, spray is the best option when possibly encountering groups.

If you go this route, get two of the same spray and expend one for target practice. Don’t assume you’ll figure out how to work it in the heat of the moment.

4. Martial arts. Not everybody is fit enough for this and it doesn’t help deter an attack, but winning is always nice and being psychologically comfortable with hurting others is at least half of being good at fighting. Again based on my experience, don’t try anything fancy. Knock them down (shove them back, knee kicks, grab their arm and yank) then either run or kill. There’s no shame in running.

But running won’t get you sex… and being the guy people run away from is very preselective, as a pickup artist might say.

Ultimately, President Obama nominated me, and the U.S. Senate unanimously confirmed me. When I took the bench in 2011, I was a former military, God-and-country, middle-of-the-road guy. I took my job very seriously. I understood the importance of the judiciary. …

Early on, I sentenced a young man, Antonio, who was 27. He was charged as a felon in possession of a firearm. He had been convicted of two armed robberies at 17 years old. At 27, Antonio is doing what we all hope a criminal defendant does after being convicted: he gets a job. He is in contact with his family. He does not do drugs. He does not drink. But Antonio had been doing one thing that he should not have been.

Antonio was driving down the street and, without being too graphic, he and his girlfriend were engaged in an activity that caused him to cross slightly over the double-yellow line. The police saw it and pulled him over. The police suspected his girlfriend was a prostitute, so they split Antonio and his girlfriend up and asked them questions. The police realized based on her answers that she in fact was Antonio’s girlfriend. Then, the police said, .OK, we are going to let you go. Oh, by the way, do you mind if we search your car?. Antonio, forgetting that he had an unloaded pistol under the front seat of his car, responded, .No, go ahead..

Antonio was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Because he was convicted as an adult in his prior crimes, his mandatory minimum sentence was 15 years. I read his case and thought this could not be right. Fifteen years? What are “mandatory minimums.? I did not fully understand what they were at the time. I spent the next several days trying to figure out how to get around the minimum sentence . it cannot be done.

Two points. One, I can accept a judge with limited experience with criminal law; civilian oversight is an American tradition; but I cannot accept a judge with deficient knowledge of criminal law. Sharp not understanding sentencing guidelines indicates Obama didn’t select him for his competence.

And two, why is he upset that a convicted armed robber, who obviously served less than ten years in prison for two armed robberies, is going down hard for possessing a firearm that he knew he was not allowed to have? If he’s impulsive enough to fuck his girl while driving a car then he’s impulsive enough to do another armed robbery with the handgun he kept ready. Thank God the police searched his car and caught him early.

There are real sob stories about minimum sentencing but this is not one of them.

Several years later, I had the same conversation with myself. This time, the case involved a 22-year-old kid, Chris Young. He was caught up with a group of members of the Vice Lords, a gang known for running cocaine and crack through middle Tennessee. Chris was not a member of this gang. He was an aspiring rapper who would hang out with members of the Vice Lords because one of the gang members had a studio. He was occasionally asked to make crack, but he did not know how.

Chris was arrested as part of a 30-person indictment for drug conspiracy. Chris was such a minor player in the drug conspiracy . he did not even know how to make crack. I think the only reason the DEA arrested him was because he happened to be at a gas station when they took down the Vice Lords. leader. He was at the wrong place with the wrong group at the wrong time. The only evidence showing Chris’s connection to the gang were tapes from their wiretaps where Chris is talking to the gang’s leader about how he cannot figure out why the crack he has cooked did not turn out right. The leader gets frustrated and finally says, .I.ll just come over and do it myself.” That was basically the extent of it.

The prosecutor told Chris, .You can plead guilty, and we will give you twelve years.” Chris is 22 and thinks, .12 years, no! I’m so minor in all of this, I will go to and win at trial.” His lawyer convinces him that he should not go to trial, given his two prior drug convictions (one for less than half a gram of crack, which is about a sugar packet of crack) and the penalty he could face if convicted again . a mandatory life sentence. At this point, the prosecutor changes his mind and says, .12 years was last week’s price . this week’s price is 22 years, and if you turn this down, next week’s price may be higher.. A 22-year-old, Chris thought, .22 years is life! I.ll take my chances at trial.” Only three people of this 30-person group arrested, by the way, went to trial. Everybody else pled guilty. At trial, these three people, who happened to also be the lowest members of this conspiracy, all got life in prison. Every single one of them. Yes, the Vice Lords were selling a lot of drugs, but not Chris, and not the other two defendants who also decided to go to trial. They all are behind bars for life.

A young man aspiring to the thug life with two convictions for possession of cocaine runs with a notorious drug-trafficking gang and is recorded trying to cook crack for the bosses… how is he a sympathetic figure?

Sharp explains:

Before being sentenced, Chris was asked, .Do you have anything to say?. He responded, .Yes, I do.” Chris gave a speech that he clearly had worked on for a long time. It was very articulate. He showed his understanding of economics, philosophy, and history. Here was a kid who had such great potential. I told you about my background because I recognized some parts of Chris in me. Chris was self-taught. He had taught himself Greek philosophy . and Greek names are not pronounced the way they are often spelled, so he is pronouncing these names phonetically, .SO-craits?. .YOU-rope-ides.? I struggled to understand who he was talking about. Then I realized, I know who Chris is talking about because I did the same thing when I started reading in the military. I would go to the library and pick up books and pronounce these names the way kids are taught in elementary school. I listened to Chris make the same mistakes I had made . the difference being I had opportunities that Chris Young did not have. I convinced myself then and there that .I cannot do this, I am not going to do it anymore..

Textbook care-based morality. This is maddening. First, men like Sharp destroyed fathers via the divorce courts. Then they destroyed the backup fathers–the military (which Sharp himself credited with raising him), the Church, the Boy Scouts and so on. And then, they want to see crooks go unpunished because the crooks didn’t have the chances they did… the very chances they destroyed.

A liberal is someone who treats people unjustly because he wants the world to be more just.

Judges like Sharp are why we had to create minimum sentencing guidelines in the first place. He did a good thing by resigning his cushy, lifetime appointment. He was clearly unfit. Care to guess how he’s now trying to give fatherless young men the chances he himself had? Spoiler alert, it doesn’t involve a vow of poverty:

I keep following Vox Day because he’s my only window into the SF/F world. There was a time I enjoyed reading… not so much anymore and VD is the only guy able/willing to clue me in on the depths of the publishing world’s depravity.

The news comes as no surprise but B&N is the only chain bookstore left in California since Borders died in 2011. Soon, there will be no physical bookstores remaining except used bookstores that sell the equivalent of free Project Gutenberg. End of an era, indeed.

I speculate, what would have happened if B&N has morality-policed the publishing companies? If they’d refused to sell any books containing necrophilia or anti-Christianity? Perhaps they’d have gone out of business… but they went out of business anyway because people don’t want to buy those books. They could have refused to kick the can down the road and solicited higher-quality product from lesser publishers. What they actually did can only be described as appeasement.

Cooperating with evil is like paying Danegeld: a temporary play for enough time to eject from a problem that is not going to leave just because you feed it. Save yourself if you have no power but push back if you do. If your suppliers demand you sell shit to dupes then tell them to go to Hell. If you don’t… then the consequences will not pass you by.

Meanwhile, Amazon is winning the biggest-box Big Box retailer award. But I’m having the same trouble with Amazon that I did in the brick-and-mortars: “Will this book that costs $$$ offend my conscience to the point where I refuse to even finish reading it? Does this new author belong in a mental hospital?”

Many of the books I’ve purchased from Castalia House don’t hit my fancy but they’re SAFE for me to purchase. I’m not going to end up reading about a villain getting an erection the size of a fire extinguisher from drinking the blood of an obnoxious evangelical Christian. I’m not going to read about a Mary Sue supersoldier who plots the overthrow of his government because fifteen years ago, he was conscripted away from the girl he had such a strong teenage crush on that he actually said hello. I’m not going to read about suits of powered armor whose recharging plugs are located in the crotch. I’m not going to read about how the U.S. Constitution is saved by a flaming homosexual. Burn in Hell, Barnes & Noble. You brought this upon yourself. You offered me filth in so many endless varieties that my only winning move was not to buy… that my love for reading fiction withered away.

I don’t advise sane people to leave California. There’s nowhere to go and plenty of niches in which to hide from the Sacramento Satanists. I do, however, advise sane people to leave Los Angeles specifically. There’s a story to that and its time has come.

In 1990s Los Angeles, the Dept. of Water & Power was operated separately from the city government. Different budgets, different leadership, etc. The city council was cash-strapped as a result of its breathtaking corruption (read up on Gil Garcetti on Infogalactic for a peek, then notice his son is the current mayor). The DWP was better managed and actually running a profit.

The city council kept trying to tap into the DWP’s budget, pressuring it for no-interest loans and trying to plant moles in its leadership. DWP fought back by cooking its books. It spent all its profits on spare parts, hid them everywhere and then complained to the city council that they didn’t have any money to loan out. Leave us alone, we’re broke too!

Then the 1994 Northridge Earthquake happened.

The good: DWP was able to restore basic services city-wide in less than 72 hours because its stockyards were already overflowing with replacement parts.

The bad: LA city council noticed DWP pulling a new power grid out of its ass.

The ugly: LA city council was denied potentially millions of disaster relief dollars because infrastructure was repaired too quickly.

I can’t say how that story ends because I lost my DWP contact shortly afterward but if bureaucratic corruption is any indicator, by now Los Angeles infrastructure has been sabotaged by the city council to ensure the deaths of thousands the next time disaster strikes. Our leaders will not be denied their bribe money.

New Orleans? Puerto Rico? The suffering of their people was <i>useful</i> to their governments. A bargaining chip for more cheese. Los Angeles is now both a geological powder keg and an ethnic powder keg, and managed by people who see human misery as a chance for personal profit… get the Hell out of there.
